Systematic collection and reprocessing of electronic waste is a relatively new measure. Local and national government has drawn up a number of frameworks for the treatment of electronic waste in accordance with environmental legislation and EU directives.

Producers of electronic equipment are also working on establishing frameworks for collection, recycling and disposal in a move to strengthen their environmental image.
